CENWAT Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters up to 70kw net
The types of domestic appliances covered by CENWAT (Central Heating and Hot Water) include-
• Central heating & hot water boilers
• Circulators
• Combination boilers
• Storage water heaters
• Open and balanced flue, natural draught or fan assisted
• Instantaneous water heaters with heat input equal to or less than 70kW

Gastec training offers CENWAT assessments for gas engineers on a very regular basis. CENWAT appliances may be supplied by either Natural Gas or Liquefied Petroleum Gas. CENWAT requires an ACS core gas safety such as CCN1(domestic gas core ACS) or COCN1(commercial gas core ACS) as you may hold CENWAT from a domestic or commercial standing. CENWAT is designed to assess the competence of a gas engineer to install, exchange, commission, disconnect, service, carry out repair and attend to the breakdown of domestic gas appliances.

Many domestic gas boilers and water heaters covered by CENWAT are fitted in commercial premises; in this case, an engineer holding an appropriate commercial ACS core may undertake CENWAT without holding the CCN1 ACS qualification.

Common add-ons alongside your CMDDA1 qualification are:

• HTR1 – Domestic Space Heaters (including Gas Fires and Wall Heaters)
• MET1 – Domestic gas meters
• DAH1 – Domestic warm air heaters
• REGT1 – Domestic medium pressure meter regulators
• CPA1 – Combustion performance
• CMDDA – C0/C02 Atmosphere and appliance testing

These consist of open-book written assessments. The Open Book assessments permit the use of approved reference material such as the Gastec manual to obtain answers.

The written assessments contain either multiple questions or true/false statements.

Before a candidate can be allowed to sit for the CENWAT ACS assessment, they need to provide evidence of an in-date ACS core gas safety assessment.

CATEGORY 1 APPLICANTS
Experienced gas fitting operatives seeking certificate renewal and/or assessment and certification to extend their work range.

CATEGORY 2 APPLICANTS
Individuals with relevant gas experience, and other individuals with relevant qualifications and experience in similar job disciplines, for example:
plumbers and installers of piped gas other than LPG or Natural Gas engineers from the domestic oil industry, electrical appliance service engineers and marine engineers/fitters
heating and ventilation engineers and refrigeration engineers/fitters
Individuals from outside the United Kingdom who have relevant qualifications and experience.

CATEGORY 3 APPLICANTS

Individuals without previous experience are entering the industry for the first time.

ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION
Upon receipt and verification of the Application for Certification and Assessment documents, UK Certification will be the body to award the certification issued for your personal use.core gas
