CCN1 Domestic Core Gas Safety

Before a candidate can be allowed to sit for the core ACS assessments, they need to provide evidence of completing a certified training programme such as the Gastec Managed Learning Programme. After the Managed learning programme is complete, sufficient proof of onsite working experience that is supervised by an accredited and Gas Safe Registered engineer is required to populate a portfolio. With the portfolio complete you will be awarded an Initial Gas Qualification (IGQ) which will allow you to undertake ACS assessment.

Looking for a re-assessment? With CCN1 gas safe re-assessment, completion of the ACS re-assessment must be within the last six months before the stated expiry date on the certification. If you have lapsed your CCN1 qualification over 12 months you will need to undertake an initial ACS CCN1 assessment to get you on your feet again.

Alongside your CCN1 domestic ACS gas qualification. Common add-ons to the  gas safety CCN1 course include:

• CENWAT1 – Central Heating Boilers & Water Heaters up to 70kw net
• CKR1 – Domestic Gas Cooking Appliances
• HTR1 – Domestic Space Heaters (including Gas Fires and Wall Heaters)
• MET1 – Domestic gas meters
• DAH1 – Domestic warm air heaters
• REGT1 – Domestic medium pressure meter regulators
• CPA1 – Combustion performance
• CMDDA – C0/C02 Atmosphere and appliance testingcor

These consist of open-book written assessments. The Open Book assessments permit the use of approved reference material such as the Gastec training manual to obtain answers.

All written assessments contain either multiple questions or true/false statements.

• Gas safety legislation and standards
• Gas emergency actions and procedures
• Products and characteristics of combustion
• Ventilation
• Installation of pipework and fittings
• Tightness testing and purging
• Checking and/or setting meter regulators
• Unsafe situations, emergency notices and warning labels
• Operation and positioning of emergency isolation controls and valves
• Checking and setting appliance burner pressures and gas rates
• Operation and checking of appliance gas safety devices and controls
• Chimney Standards
• Chimney inspection and testing
• Installation of open, balanced and fan assisted chimneys
• Re-establish existing gas supply and relight appliances

CATEGORY 1 APPLICANTS
Experienced gas fitting operatives seeking certificate renewal and/or assessment and certification to extend their work range.

CATEGORY 2 APPLICANTS
Individuals with relevant gas engineering experience, and other individuals with relevant qualifications and experience in similar job disciplines, for example:

plumbers and installers of piped gas other than LPG or Natural Gas engineers from the domestic oil industry, electrical appliance service engineers and marine engineers/fitters

heating and ventilation engineers and refrigeration engineers/fitters wanting to become gas safe.

Individuals from outside the United Kingdom who have relevant qualifications and experience

CATEGORY 3 APPLICANTS
Our domestic gas engineer training courses are for individuals without previous experience are entering the industry for the first time.

ON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION
Upon receipt and verification of the Application for Certification and Assessment documents, UK Certification will be the body to award the certification issued for your personal use.

Gastec training and assessment centre use their own literature to train from.
